IAA MOBILITY 2023 – The Hirschvogel Group is transforming more than just its product range
Under the motto, “GREEN. LEAN. SMART.”, the Hirschvogel Group has set out on the road to a more sustainable future. At the IAA MOBILITY 2023 Summit, we provided an insight into our product range for innovative vehicle concepts that render motorized mobility more climate friendly. We also presented our Group’s digitalization and decarbonization efforts.
A good example of this are our differential bevel gears, over 80 percent of which Hirschvogel produces for battery-electric vehicles. Serial production of these differential bevel gears is carried out in a “green, lean, smart” way on the basis of end-to-end, digitally aided, automated, and highly efficient value stream planning. The manufacturing processes are 100 percent electricity-based, with Hirschvogel further optimizing its carbon footprint thanks to the solar plant soon scheduled for connection to the grid at the Denklingen site.
A smart factory concept that aims, for example, to ensure the traceability of products, as well as clearly defined, Group-wide decarbonization targets will set the direction for the coming years.
In addition to presenting our differential bevel gears at the IAA, we also showcased other components for the car and truck concepts of tomorrow. These included forged aluminum control arms and wheel carriers, weight-reduced transmission shafts and rotor shafts for the electrified powertrain, as well as heat sinks for power electronics in electric vehicles. Also on display were the first series components for fuel cell vehicles and vehicles with hydrogen combustion engines. This represents the kind of openness to different technologies that will benefit the mobility turnaround. After all, hydrogen-based drive systems can contribute to carbon-optimized mobility, especially in the commercial and heavy-duty sectors.
For the micromobility market, we develop and produce a modular system of components under the brand name AXIMO, allowing electrified vehicle concepts, from e-bikes to light vehicles (L2e to L7e), to be implemented cost-effectively. The first products are already in series production. And so, visitors to the IAA were already able to experience for themselves the safe and reliable riding experience of a CUBE Trike Hybrid with an AXIMO axle system by taking their turn on a driving simulator.
The fact that Hirschvogel is embracing the challenges of the future was well received by the international trade audience at the IAA. We would like to thank all business partners and interested parties for their visit and for the many positive discussions.
