DIFFERENTial PERFORMANCE
The powertrains of the future are evolving dramatically. In the process, a component that has remained unchanged for the past century or so – the differential – has been seeing significant performance improvements in recent years. And this trend is not over yet. Hirschvogel is rising to this challenge by expanding its portfolio of differential gears and mounted differentials.
The concept is based on three pillars. The first pillar stands for design. During the design process, differential gears or differentials can be newly developed based on customer requirements. This approach guarantees maximum power density and ensures the development of a component that is specifically tailored to customer requirements. The design process is completed with extensive evaluations and fatigue strength calculations. (Fig. 1)
The second pillar of the concept stands for the sophisticated and highly efficient inhouse production that is currently being set up specifically for differential gears. Hirschvogel has set itself the goal of using the best manufacturing technologies in order to be in a position to offer competitive prices at excellent component quality, even in Germany.
This highly automated production process goes beyond the state of the art, for example by setting new standards in terms of throughput times. Furthermore, inhouse production is largely powered by renewable energies. A path to fully sustainable production is currently being developed. (Fig. 2) The third pillar is based on the use of differential gears.
A test bench is being set up to analyze and determine the fatigue strength on the real component. A test bench is being set up to analyze and determine the fatigue strength on the real component. The goal is to identify the fatigue strength for all sample parts. In this way, the customer can be provided with detailed data that goes beyond the usual market offer. Furthermore, the test bench will be used to carry out other internal developments, thereby ensuring that Hirschvogel can continue to offer the best products.
